Known for his hard-hitting experimental club music, French producer Brodinski has always been fascinated with trap music, but not in the shallow way that other electronic producers exploit the genre. With September's The Sour Patch Kid, Brodinski connected with the young artists -- mostly names that aren't huge on the blogs but are well respected in the streets -- who personify ATL trap culture in its purest form. He's now inviting other artists from his label, Bromance Records, to bring their sounds to Atlanta. Bromance's latest drop comes from Myd of the Parisian electronic foursome Club Cheval. He has linked with Twice and Lil Patt of Young Thug's YSL camp for "No Bullshit," which is Myd's first rap track in the US, as he has already produced three gold records for French rappers.
"No Bullshit" is the first track off a forthcoming joint project, entitled Young Slime Season, from YSL, Bromance, and Drug Money USA (a clique with a strong ties to YSL). Though Young Thug won't be on the project, there's so much raw talent on the YSL team, as evidenced by "No Bullshit" as well as the "Slimes in the Place" track from The Sour Patch Kid, which featured Slimelife Shawty, Zack Slime Fr, No Mask Nuk, Slimelife Kelly, and Maja.
"I've been to Atlanta many times working with Brodinski. But this time around, I feel like I made something in Atlanta that sounds and feels like me," said Myd to FADER about his new collab with Twice and Lil Patt. "'No Bullshit' shows the lighter side of Atlanta, the one I like the most: creative, spontaneous and inspired."
The Paris-Atlanta connection is an exciting development for both cities. Look out for more innovative rapper-producer combos on Young Slime Season, which should be dropping this month.
