Mitch Trubisky's future in Chicago is up in the air following the 2020 season.

Chicago Bears fans have grown increasingly impatient with Mitch Trubisky over the last few seasons and in 2019, he had Bears supporters seeing red. It was becoming clear that Trubisky was no longer the future of the franchise and in the offseason, the Bears traded for Nick Foles. Now, the Bears are making yet another decision in relation to Trubisky's future with the franchise.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Bears have declined the fifth-year option on Trubisky's deal which means he will only be under contract through the 2020 season. Once 2021 rolls around, Trubisky will become a free agent and can either be resigned or he could go somewhere else.

This creates an interesting situation for the Bears as Trubisky and Foles will be competing against each other. Of course, Foles is a Super Bowl-winner while Trubisky is still unproven. If he doesn't have a good training camp, Trubisky could be pushed to the bench for an entire season which would certainly hurt him once free agency starts.

If you're the Bears QB, this is a tricky situation and it is most certainly a wake-up call moving forward. Needless to say, NFL fans will be interested to see how it all plays out.
