It all happened during a performance in the 6.

Drake's Take Care album has revealed itself to be one of those blockbuster musical outings that has transcended it's former ubiquity, becoming widely recognized as a modern hip-hop classic that presides over any contemporaneously released projects. It's no surprise then that Lorde, the world's most famous Kiwi, is a fan of Drizzy's particular blend of soulful and introspective lyricism.

During a visit to Toronto on her current Melodrama World Tour, the "Green Light" songstress took an opportunity to pay homage to the city's most accredited and beloved export, Drake. Before delving into a performance of Take Care deep-cut "Shot For Me," Lorde reveals Drake to be a "great hug-giver," confirming that the rapper gives "very good hugs."

Sitting in the middle of the stage, swathed in a simple white dress, Lorde approached her performance rather intimately. The original's minimal arrangement was stripped down further to just a piano accompanying the singer's vocals, giving the track an alternative perspective.

However, this isn't the first time the singer/songwriter has covered a notable hip-hop artist's track. During a recent stop in Chicago, Lorde sang Kanye West's "Love Lockdown" in honour of Chi-Town's reigning king, Yeezy himself.
