Lil Yachty can no longer be called "The King Of Teens" so he's since opted to "King of Youth." The upbeat Atlanta rapper celebrated his 20th birthday yesterday and it looks like he had a pretty solid day overall. He shared a photo on Instagram with his whole team in front of a pretty hefty looking cake that read "Happy Birthday Lil Boat" alongside a Bart Simpson with red braids. While he celebrated another year of life alongside his team, he told his fans that he'd be releasing something for them and he kept to his word.
Last year he dropped a Birthday Mix to his fans and this year, he kept the tradition going. Titled "Birthday 2.0" Lil Yachty compiled a mix of a bunch of unreleased tracks and freestyles and blended it into a solid 12 minutes. For anyone who messes with Lil Yachty, this is surely something you want to check out. It has a good blend of both sides of his musical spectrum. He has some melodic stuff in the mix as well as some even more hard-hitting rap stuff as well.
One of the highlighting moments on the mix is his freestyle over "Perplexing Pegasus" by Rae Sremmurd. While the official version is the only thing out, Yachty actually fits on the beat very well and hopefully, it may lead to an official remix.
It's definitely a big week for the 20-year old star. While he celebrated his birthday yesterday, this weekend he'll be hosting the VMA's and he's also nominated for three awards as well. D.R.A.M's "Broccoli" featuring Lil Yachty is up for two nominations for best hip hop and best collaboration and KYLE's "iSpy" featuring Yachty is up for Best Visual Effects. Hopefully we get to see the young rapper leave with an award or two.
