Relationship between player and team has never been worse.

According to ESPN‘s Zach Lowe and Brian Windhorst, things have taken a bad turn between the Timberwolves and their young pivot. during his podcast Zach Lowe commented that both sides were “not in a good place internally.” What that suggests on the drawing board is left open to interpretation. The Timberwolves has made many changes to its lineup over the past couple, in order to build a roster capable of challenging for a title, this being the first season in a long while the team had clinched a playoff berth. Karl-Anthony recently fueled speculation by 'liking' posts on Twitter that suggested he jump ship.

Lowe's co-host Brian Windhorst went as far as to suggest, Towns' name could surface in trade rumors, his exact words: "I don’t think Anthony Davis is going anywhere any time soon, but Karl Towns…now that might be a different story." The Timberwolves are committed to their core, but admittedly that list begins and ends with Jimmy Butler, even Andrew Wiggins inclusion in the team's long term plans has never been a sure bet. Management doesn't know what they have in a few of their budding prospects, and it's hard to blame them for looking quizzical. Karl-Anthony Towns remains a shaky defender at best. How much of that responsibility falls on the coaching staff is anyone's guess. His development is something he could and should investigate on his own.
