Odd Future member Hodgy Beats released a three songs on Soundcloud today, all with the tag (lofi). “Loyalty? (lofi)” an old school record that properly evokes early 2000s backpack rap.
Hodgy displays his lyrical prowess over a melancholy piano loop and a simple drum kit. It’s maybe a bit ironic that he raps about people accusing him of disloyalty when he accused Tyler, the Creator of the same thing at the end of 2015. Thankfully the two Odd Future emcees squashed their beef soon after.
The other two records released by Hodgy Beats today are very different, as “d00rs (lofi)” is a short, soulful track whole “Resourcefool (lofi)” is a funky dance record. It’s unclear what the “lofi” tag symbolizes, whether it means these songs might get a remaster, or if they might end up on a project together.
