California bred singer and songwriter H.E.R. has become one of the hottest R&B singers in the music industry right now. She first hopped on the scene, choosing to let her voice speak for itself by never showing what she looks like, using only her silhouette. Once her work spoke volumes and was loved by nearly everybody, we finally got to see who the real Gabi Wilson was and her humble persona is just what you would expect.
The 21-year-old may be young in age, but don't try and doubt her music knowledge. The "Focus" singer was in invited to play a game of Song Association with Elle where she had to sing a song that had the word she was given. Needless to say, she won the game with flying colours, busting out classics by D'Angelo, Stevie Wonder, Adele, Aretha Franklin, Jazmine Sullivan and even her own songs with Daniel Caesar.
“It’s easier for people to judge what they don’t like about someone when they know exactly what they’re looking at,” Gabi said years ago when discussing hiding her identity. “I just want it to be all about the music. Forget the clothes, the looks, the name, the backstory...you’re here for the music.”
Fun tip: H.E.R. stands for “Having Everything Revealed.”
