Demi Lovato's history of substance abuse has been well documented over the years. She was incredibly candid about her journey through recovery in her documentary, Simply Complicated. The singer was expected to release the sequel to the documentary in the near future but due to her recent hospitalization, she's put it on hold for the time being.
Demi Lovato's sequel to her documentary Simply Complicated was initially due out this fall but because of her recent hospitalization, production has been put on pause, IndieWire reports. YouTube Global Head of original content, Susanne Daniels confirmed the news earlier today.
"It’s in production,” Daniels said, but “it’s on hold right now. That’s up to Demi what she wants to say and what she wants to do.”
Daniels called Demi Lovato "my hero" before adding, "She’s someone who has been honest, so candid about her struggles, from day one when she was a teenager... She talked about them in the first documentary. So I think we’re on pause, we want her to get well, and she’ll decide what she wants to say or not say about this.”
Demi Lovato's first documentary highlighted her the creative process behind her album, Tell Me You Love Me while also exploring her personal battles.
Daniels said that the second documentary is "like the first one. It's a continuation of it."
She continued, "The first doc went over so well, with her fans and did so well in front of and behind the paywall, that there was a clamoring for more Demi. So we said, ‘OK, let’s do more Demi.’ And she was game. So it follows her life really for the past year. And like the first one, she honestly talks about her struggles a lot, in the second one too."
