Black Thought, Freddie Gibbs, Talib Kweli & More To Headline Hiero Day Festival

Hiero Day goes down in the Bay Area this Labor Day Weekend.

Veteran hip-hop collective, The Hieroglyphics, have returned with their 7th annual Hiero Day music festival, set to be staged in Oakland, California this weekend in celebration of Labor Day. This time around. The crew has recruited the likes of Black Thought, Freddie Gibbs, and Talib Kweli to head up the festivities.

The festival will take place at Third Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in the city and is a healthy balance of local acts and bigger stars from out of town. Taking place on Monday, the 3rd, the festival and block party will also feature appearance from names like Mannie Fresh, The Pharcyde, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Cult Days, and Elzhi among a throng of others. Hosting the event will be Mistah F.A.B., Chuy Gomez, Dnas, Chinaka Hodge, and Chris Riggins.

This year, the festival will may homage to the 25th anniversary of Souls Of Mischief’s ’93 Til Infinity album, note the 9/3 date stamp this time around, while also honoring the 25th anniversary of Del The Funky Homosapien’s No Need For Alarm and commemorating the Hieroglyphic’s 20th and 15th anniversaries for their 3rd Eye Vision and Full Circle albums, respectively.
