It all went down smoothly.

Big Freedia appeared on many people's radar for her iconic voice: "I did not come to play with you hos!" When the artist stopped by Backseat Heat with Wendy Williams, the host asked about this vocal contribution that appeared on Beyonce's "Formation." Freedia recalls the day her publicist shared the news of Beyonce's interest in a collaboration.

"My publicist called and said, 'Beyoncé wants to talk to you,'" she told Williams, as shown in the program's teaser clip below."I'm like, 'Why are you on the phone?! Why you didn't just give her my number?!'"

According to the New Orleans native, what followed was a bit of a whirlwind: "The project happened to be "Formation." They sent me probably a 3-second snippet of the song for me to come up with a line." Freedia ended up looping the snippet to facilitate her process. The lines she sent to Beyonce's crew was immediately approved: "Next thing I know, the song was out."

The Queen of Bounce was also asked about her coming out, which was thankfully received by her mother with ease. "When I told her, she said, 'Mama already know, baby,'" Big Freedia recalled. "That was my backbone, baby. She was my protector. She taught me class and to be who I am and not be afraid. She was my rock."
