Around this time last year, West coast crooner Arin Ray dropped off his debut Phases EP, an impressive body of work consisting of six tracks and appearances from emcees Boogie, Lashaun Ellis, and Toronto songstress Jessie Reyez.

Since the release, fans of Ray have had to suffer a seemingly interminable drought that's now been interrupted with his latest offering, "We Ain't Homies."

Following Phases' arrival, Arin's profile has seen it fair share of elevation, as he's come a considerable way from his debut as an aspiring youngster on The X Factor, and "We Ain't Homies" arrives as something of a warning for those coming across his path with the wrong intentions.

"Trying to understand me by my past, you will never see my future," Ray told The FADER about the new track. "'We Ain’t Homies' was one of the first records I worked on after releasing my Phases EP. I was in the studio with Ef Keys and Chuckie making beats for the new project and it came together very naturally.”

Minimal production paired with effortless and immaculate vocals are now a staple of Arin Ray's catalog, and "We Ain't Homies" keeps the trend going.

We can only hope he doesn't stay away for too long following its release.

Quotable Lyrics

Where were you when we was broke?
Eating Ramen noodles from the corner store.
I ain't even see you when sh*t was low
So, don't you try to act like you really know.
