John Mayer and No I.D. release a radio-worthy summer track.

Over the years, John Mayer has always dabbled in the world of hip-hop, collaborating with rappers and offering his opinion on the climate of the genre. Throughout his silly interactions with Nicki Minaj or his studio sessions with Russ or Big Sean, John Mayer has established a solid lane for himself in the pop and R&B world. Attempting to modernize his sound a bit, John Mayer decided to work with one of hip-hop's most prolific producers in No I.D., dropping off his new single "New Light."

The track is very clearly ready for the summer. A feel-good, breezy affair that is sure to get plenty of radio airplay, John Mayer has praised No I.D. for his work on the song, saying that he uses Ableton Live "like a violin." What do you think of his latest effort?

Quotable Lyrics:

I'm the boy in your other phone
Lighting up inside your drawer at home all alone
Pushing 40 in the friend zone
We talk and then you walk away every day
Oh, you don't think twice 'bout me
And maybe you're right to doubt me
