Lil Rel Howery details the moment Kyrie found out about the trade.

We all know that Kyrie Irving was thrilled when he found out he was traded to the Boston Celtics back in August, but last night we learned some behind the scenes details of where he was when it all went down, and just how excited he was.

On the Oscar's red carpet last night, Lil Rel Howery explained that he was on the set of the "Uncle Drew" movie with Kyrie when the All-Star point guard got the call. According to Lil Rel, who will star in the "Uncle Drew" movie along with Kyrie Irving, here's how things played out on set right after the news broke.

“Imagine this. Imagine you’re going through a table read with somebody. You’re watching SportsCenter as you always do. Like, ‘Man, he wanna leave Cleveland?’ You see him the next day, you don’t say nothing because you don’t know him yet like that. But you’re just looking awkwardly at him, like ‘I wanna ask so bad, man. What’s going on?’

“But then we got to know each other a little bit and I talked to him about it. He was telling me everything. But then the dopest moment was when the trade actually went through. He was so happy man. We were in the middle of a scene. We were shooting a scene. His homeboy comes in, whispers in his ear, and he just runs off the set. We’re filming! He just runs out. We were in the club shooting a scene. He just runs out, so happy. He comes back, everybody’s applauding. And it was a dancing scene. So when you see the movie and he’s like really getting it, that’s him in real life. He was really happy.”

So far this season Irving is averaging 24.8 points per game to go along with 5.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per night. The Celtics, 44-20, are currently sitting in second in the Eastern Conference, just two games back of the Toronto Raptors, and seven games up on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"Uncle Drew," featuring a cast of elder ballers that includes Shaquille O'Neal, Reggie Miller, Chris Webber, Nate Robinson and Lisa Leslie, will hit theaters on June 29th.
