Jaosn Derulo has reportedly become the latest L.A. celebrity to be hit by a new wave of break-ins.
According to TMZ, the "Swalla" singer was the victim of a burglary that took place at his Los Angeles home. Police who are currently investigating the matter say that they were first informed of the incident on Friday, when a member of Derulo's team went into his Los Angeles home and noticed that something wasn't quite right - apparently an unknown perpetrator had gone inside and taken several items from the artist's pad. There's no word on whether or not doors were left unlocked or if there was forced entry into the house, but at this point, it seems unlikely that the former option took place. Derulo is currently on the road outside California, so the report should become more detailed once he is back at his home and able to identify what was stolen.
TMZ had previously reported that celebrity burglaries are on the uptick this year in the City of Angels, with many well-known entertainment figures filing reports of burglaries in recent months. Drake, Kendall Jenner, Scott Disick, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato and more have supposedly been on the hit list of the robbers who are currently at large in L.A. A possible reason for the influx in crime it ritzy suburban areas of the city is due to Los Angeles trying to solve a prison overcrowding issue by releasing a number of non-violent criminals. There were also many drug sentences that were reduced from felonies to misdemeanors in the hopes of freeing up space within the walls of correctional facilities. Now, the impact of that decision seems of have resulted in many more burglaries than normal in Los Angeles, with Derulo being the latest celeb to add his name to the victim list.
Speaking of the famed R&B/pop singer, he recently stated that he's thinking of getting a place in Nashville after spending a lot of quality time with country music giant Luke Bryan on his farm. Could we see Derulo's music take on a noticeable country twang in the near future? Only time will tell.
