LeBron James has confirmed his status as one of the cheapest players in the NBA.
In a recent interview with ESPN's Rachel Nichols, LeBron was asked about comments Dwyane Wade made last year during an appearance on Kelly Ripa's show, where D-Wade referred to LeBron as an "exact tipper" who is so cheap he will only use his phone if he has Wi-Fi access.
When confronted in front of Wade, LeBron confirmed the rumors and said he won't even splurge for the premium version of Pandora and instead has to listen through the commercials. For the record, Forbes ranked LeBron as the second highest-paid athlete in the world, earning $86.2 million last year between his salary and endorsements. A commercial-free Pandora subscription would run him $4.99 per month.
Luckily for poor LeBron, it looks like Pandora is willing to hook him up with a premium account.
The Cavaliers will open up the 2017 NBA season tomorrow night at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland against Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward and the Boston Celtics.
LeBron reportedly sprained his ankle during a practice last month and aggravated the injury during the Cavs' preseason game against the Bulls. He sat out the team's final preseason game and his status for tomorrow night's game against Boston is in question, according to NBA.com.
Despite the reports on Lebron's nagging ankle injury, J.R. Smith says he fully expects the 32-year old All-Star to be on the court as he kicks off his 15th NBA season. Tomorrow night's game is scheduled to tip off at 8:00 pm ET and will air on TNT.
