The Green Bay Packers lose their most valuable player.

The playoff hopes of Green Bay Packer fans were dealt a severe blow Sunday afternoon, when star quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with an injury partway through today's game against the Minnesota Vikings. He was carted off the field and into the Packers' locker room, with the tam officially calling it a "right shoulder injury." Speculation was rampant for a while that he might have a separated shoulder on his throwing side, but confirmation from the Packers' official Twitter account came soon after with the devastating news that he had suffered a broken collarbone and could miss the rest of the regular reason.

The memes were definitely being posted with a fervor rarely seen among NFL fans, with the overarching theme being that anyone who loves their NFL football and/or their fantasy team because of Rodgers was sure to shed a few tears upon hearing this news.

There was also the consensus from players and other celebrities that the loss of Green Bay's all-world quarterback would make the league's problem of a lack of qualified players taking snaps behind the center even more noticeable. There's no doubt that those who have missed strong QB play this season will take this injury news badly as well.

According ESPN’s Tristan H. Cockcroft, this series of events led to the first time Rodgers had missed a snap during the first three quarters of a football game since 2014. The immediate returns for backup QB Brett Hundley weren't promising, as he threw an interception to Vikings’ cornerback Xavier Rhodes, which led to Minnesota touchdown drive going the other way. Hopefully Rodgers has a speedy recovery and can get back on the field with the Packers as soon as possible.
