Hicks was by Trump's side throughout his campaign and into his presidency.

It has been confirmed that Hope Hicks, the Communications Director who worked closely with President Donald Trump for years, has resigned from her post. Hicks worked alongside Trump throughout his days as a businessman, and was an integral member of his presidential campaign through to his position as Commander in Chief.

Hicks' departure comes a day after she admitted to the House Intelligence Committee that she had told white lies in the course of her duties as Communications Director. A source reveals to CNN that Hicks first considered resigning following a scandal alleging she had been romantically involved with former senior aide Rob Porter.

CNN also reports that a distressed Hicks revealed the news to her communications team on Wednesday, referencing how many years she'd been employed by Trump. She also admitted that while she always wanted what was best for her former boss, Hicks thought now was the right time to sever her ties with the White House. This revelation has many pondering whether or not she had resigned based on the testimony she gave earlier this week.

Hicks will not leave immediately, but is in the beginning process of eventually departing within the next couple of weeks, noting how "there are no words to adequately express my gratitude to President Trump. I wish the President and his administration the very best as he continues to lead our country."

Trump has also responded to the news, stating that "she is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person. I will miss having her by my side but when she approached me about pursuing other opportunities, I totally understood. I am sure we will work together again in the future."
