Spotify breaks down what you consumed during 2017.

If you're looking for a quick Internet diversion that doesn't involve reading about the latest sexual harassment allegations in show business or Donald Trump's most recent Twitter beef, then Spotify has you covered.

The music streaming giant has rolled out its annual Wrapped feature, which breaks down your listening habits from the year that was (almost anyways) and provides some insight as to where you stack up with the rest of its customers. With almost 140 million active Spotify users around the world, that's a lot of data to pull from.

Spotify even acknowledges the role it played in placating much of the feelings of uneasiness that people experienced in 2017.  On Wrapped's landing page, there's a section that reads: “In a year that many wanted to tune out, music gave us a reason to keep listening.” Truer words were never spoken.

For hip-hop fans, this past year has seen the genre's exposure in the mainstream and overall popularity increase by 74 percent over 2016, which was also a very strong 12 months from a numbers standpoint. Artists like Kendrick Lamar, DJ Khaled and French Montana helped burgeon Spotify's rap appeal, as did playlists like RapCaviar, which boasts over 8 million followers on the platform.

The outlook for 2018 looks as bright as ever, with music consumers young and old continuing to make their way into the streaming domain and leave older forms of physical media, including file downloading, behind. The platform has also crafted a playlist dedicated to the songs you consumed most this year, so plug in those headphones and enjoy the vibes of your favorite tunes.

What's the track you bumped the most on Spotify this year? Let us know in the comments.
