Shortly after the New York Giants fired head coach Ben McAdoo and General Manager Jerry Reese this afternoon, word got out that Eli Manning would resume duties as the team's starting quarterback.
After Manning's streak of 210 consecutive starts ended on Sunday, thanks to McAdoo and Reese, the 2x Super Bowl MVP will be back under center for the Giants' Week 14 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
Immediately after McAdoo's firing, ESPN's Jordan Raanan confirmed the news that many has expected.
With three of the Giants' four remaining games coming at home against division rivals, it's clear that the team is making an effort to appease fans, whom the organization feared would cause riots or stage a mass protest in wake of the Eli Manning benching. Heading into Week 14, the Giants are 2-10, which is the second worst record in the league, tied with the 49ers, trailing only the winless Cleveland Browns.
Manning still has two more years remaining on his four-year, $84 million deal with the Giants, which includes $10.5 million next season and $11.5 million for the 2019 season. He has already announced plans to return for a 15th season next year, though it remains to be seen if it'll be with Big Blue or another team.
