Cardi B has been catapulted to the heights of the hip-hop world thanks to her single "Bodak Yellow." An added perk of this kind of fame for the rapper? Getting to meet one of her idols.
According to Billboard, while hanging at the Made in America festival in Philadelphia earlier this month, Cardi B got to spend time with one of music's biggest stars: Beyoncé. When asked how it felt to meet Queen B, Cardi was, to say the least, ecstatic. "I’m surprised Beyonce liked me,” Cardi B. squealed. “I met Beyonce! It’s like, ‘Oh my God!’ That’s how it feels like. I can’t talk, I can’t breathe." Not conincidentally, Bey's hubby Jay-Z was one of Made in America's headliners this year. He'll soon be embarking on an expansive North American tour throughout the fall months.
Her meeting with Beyoncé wasn't the only exciting news Cardi had for her fans. "I have an album coming. It will be dropping in October. I’m an October baby,” Cardi B said in a recent interview. “I’m a little nervous to put the project out, but I think it’s going to be pretty good.” The young rapper will be turning 25 next month. She admits that there's "a lot of pressure" on her to live up to the success of "Bodak Yellow,” which is currently No. 2 on the Hot 100 chart, trailing only Taylor Swift’s comeback hit “Look What You Made Me Do.”
"Everybody’s waiting to see what I’m going to have next and it’s like, '...I hope people love it,'" she added. "But I have confidence. I really do." "Bodak" has helped her become one of the few female stars in what is still a male-dominated genre landscape. She says it feels "amazing [and] overwhelming. It’s like, it fills me up with lot of happiness and a lot of joy," she added. "It’s just like unbelievable. I’ve been through so many things and I worked so hard for me to be here, and it’s like I’m finally here getting what I wanted, (and getting) the respect from other artists and from everybody."
