Dreamville & TDE connect.

EarthGang promised a trilogy of EPs beginning with Rags in September, and they followed through with the Robots EP on Friday. "Underwater" is the only song on the collection with a guest appearance, bringing in the talents of Inglewood singer SiR. Both artists are new signees to respected labels -- SiR to TDE alongside Kendrick Lamar, SZA, and ScHoolboy Q, among others, and EarthGang to J. Cole's Dreamville alongside Cozz, Bas, J.I.D, and more. The animated voices of Johnny Venus, Doctur Dot, and SiR are highly complimentary, and all sound great over busy, experimental production.

J. Cole recently spoke of EarthGang's appeal when their signing to Dreamville was announced in August. "When n*ggas think about Atlanta, they think about super trap shit," he said. "They think about, ya know, Future...Future is the God right now in that world and that lane... But it's like, them kids you seen at that show tonight...they actually relate more to ya'll."

The duo spoke to PnP about the trilogy earlier this year. "It's a part of this three-part EP series. Rags, Robots, and Royalty. All these things are the train stops to Mirrorland, which is our album coming out whenever the fuck we put it out,” they said. "It represents being from the bottom. Shout out to everybody who came from the bottom and came from the lowest. At the bottom, there's nothing but pure potential. Zero is pure potential."

You can listen to the full project, or should we say, part 2 of a larger "deconstructed" album here.

Quotable Lyrics:
I kept to my self, shit, I checked on my health, shit
I finished the bottle, I slept with my conscious
I did the unthought of, I cut up my phone, see
I walked in the crowd then I stopped for a picture
I felt so alone
And last night, I wrote what I want in life
And last night, I swallowed my own advice
I thought up my backups, told 'em to back up
And worked on my manhood, the pussy was damn good
I pray to my God, I walk with the people
I loaded my weapon, she told me to ease up
