Kid Cudi is switching up his music drops.

On May 19, Kid Cudi shared a brief snippet of his upcoming single, "Flex". It comes during a busy time for Cudi, who has also teased the release of a new album. Furthermore, the musician is upping his acting game, with the impending release of Crater on Disney+. Elsewhere, Cudi is preparing to reprise the role of porn star Jackson Hole in MaXXXine, the final film in Ti West's X trilogy.

The clip Cudi released from "Flex" was genuinely bizarre, with a mishmash of visuals over a heavy beat and repetition of the word "Flex". If we were to describe the clip, the best analogy would be "something you'd hear in a comedy film to indicate that the person performing was untalented." Furthermore, Fans weren't stoked on the whole, despite Cudi sharing multiple tweets of people pre-ordering the single.

Kid Cudi Promises New Release

Having seen the backlash, Cudi took to Twitter to assure fans that they would not be subjected to "Flex" anytime soon. "You guys are my fans, ur my family!!! I hear yall!! Im pivoting. Different single June 2nd!! ☺️✌🏾💕," Cudi tweeted late on May 19, just hours after the clip had been made public. Clearly, Cudi had seen enough to convince him that "Flex" wasn't going to be the hit he was hoping for with fans. This was also the opposite reaction of Coi Leray, who doubled down after backlash to a new song snippet.

Furthermore, the move went over well with fans. "Artists who listen >>>" replied streamer and crypto personality Ladidai. However, some fans pointed to the recent beef with Playboi Carti as a source of a new release. "Just drop solo solo [sic] pt 4. Force the vampire to clear it. That’s the song the fans truly want," one person tweeted. Carti reportedly won't clear a feature, which has potentially delayed the release of Cudi's Solo Dolo IV. However, Cudi has not indicated what "Flex" will be replaced with, only that it will be a "different single". Furthermore, what are you hoping Cudi drops? Let us know in the comments.
