50 Cent and Mel Gibson are starring in a new film about a serial killer.

50 Cent is set to star alongside Mel Gibson in a new film titled Boneyard, which is reportedly inspired by true events. The story will follow an FBI special agent, played by Gibson, who teams up with the Chief of the Albuquerque Police Department, played by 50, to track down a serial killer named The Bone Collector.

“Boneyard, official serial killer vibes based on a true story," 50 Cent captioned news of the film on Instagram, Monday. The movie also stars Brian Van Holt and Nora Zehetner. Asif Akbar has signed on to direct with Colin Bates and Vincent McDaniel producing.

Fans had mixed responses to the news. One user on Instagram joked, "Born too late for affordable housing; born just in time to live through a pandemic and witness 50 Cent and Mel Gibson collaborate." Another celebrated the move, writing, "You not playing fair son! They never gonna catch up!" Other fans brought up Mel Gibson's questionable past. "Didn’t he have that racist rant," one follower of 50's commented. "I appreciate what you do for the culture but this not it." Gibson infamously used the n-word during a recorded phone call with Oksana Grigorieva in 2010.

Outside of movies, 50 was recently rumored to battle Lil Wayne for an episode of Verzuz. Swizz Beatz, however, recently shut down the idea, but added he'd welcome both to the show separately. “Me personally, I wouldn’t even do 50 vs. Wayne – they two different dynamics and two different artists,” Swizz told Baller Alert. “I would do a different Verzuz for both of them, but we’ll see as we have a lot of things lined up for Verzuz, and hopefully, they are involved. While I can’t give up who I would choose to go against them, just wait and see.” Additionally, 50 Cent has said that he's planning on releasing new music at some point this year.
