Smino is still riding high off of the release of his latest body of work, Luv 4 Rent. The St. Louis rapper’s project arrived in October, marking his first album since 2018’s NOIR. While most artists can’t afford to take that type of time away from releasing music, Smino proves that the quality of his music withstands the test of time. The album also marked his first album under a major label. Through Zero Fatigue, he signed a partnership deal with Motown Records.

His latest album focuses on the theme of self-love – a topic that he’s explored through his music in the past. During an interview with Complex, he explained, “Self-love is definitely a big theme on this album, and I also think another way to interpret it is I was leading other people to self-love, too.” Though it’s unclear whether we’ll wait another four years until he delivers his next body of work, he certainly isn’t holding out new music from his fans.

Smino Takes It To "Wyoming" On New Freestyle

Luv 4 Rent remains on rotation but the rapper still has more heat to bless us with. Over the weekend, he slid through with the ultra-smooth “Wyoming Freestyle” via YouTube. With production hailing from monte booker, naz & hmsh, Smino flexes his effortless melodic flow over the luscious production. “my bus got caught inna ice storm near wyoming so we said fuck it and made this,” Smino said of the song’s creation.

Smino is currently on the road with J.I.D. for their joint Luv Is 4ever tour. The co-headlining venture kicked off on Jan. 22nd in Seattle, WA. On Wednesday (March 15th), the two rappers will complete their Canadian dates of the tour in Toronto before heading to cities like Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Cincinnati before concluding their stretch on March 29th in Nashville, TN. Check out Smino’s latest offering above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.
