Few producers have enjoyed a more prolific 2016 than Murda Beatz, based in The 6 and repping The 5 (Niagara). After making his name in Atlanta, Murda has now earned himself a close working relationship with OVO, collaborating extensively with PND and Drake, producing their VIEWS collab "With You" as well as French Montana's "No Shopping" and Gucci Mane's "Back on Road," both featuring Drizzy. Murda is yet to abandon the trap, however, and he still enjoys a rare chemistry with Migos, and more specifically, Quavo, who guests on Murda's latest drop, "No Pockets." The trap monster originally premiered earlier this summer during Murda's guest mix on OVO Sound Radio, though the song was meant to be heard in its newly polished (and uncensored) quality.
Quavo alternates between rapping "My bitch is better than yours" and "My pockets fatter than yours" for the first 45 seconds. And his delivery is so clean he could go a little longer, but he happens to segue into an effortless stop-start flow, delivering a nonstop flurry of stinging punchlines, often needing just three or four words per blow. The best bars are complemented with a resounding thud of thriller movie piano.
