Kap-G's 2014 Like A Mexican mixtape was unfairly slept-on. Full of hooky Atlanta pop-rap, it delivered on a similar premise to Rae Sremmurd's Sremmlife, but didn't get half as much attention. Thankfully, the project's best record, "Fuck La Policia," got new life as a post-Ferguson remix with T.I. and David Banner, allowing a new set of fans to get a dose of Kap's impressive songwriting ability.
With a role in the upcoming film, DOPE, the rapper's profile should continue to rise, and the release of his upcomoing EP, El Southside, should coincide perfectly. Kap has shared "I Be Up" from the project today, one of his harder records, but not without his gift for earworms. Look out for the EP later this year.
