The Purist may be from the UK, but his sound is anything but. The sample-heavy beats he's been making for artists like Your Old Droog, Danny Brown, and Mick Jenkins, sound like the work of someone who grew up on Madlib and J Dilla rather than Roll Deep.
His new project, Pyrex Scholar, is out next week, and it'll find him working with Tree, Westside Gunn, Freddie Gibbs, and more, as well quite a few instrumentals. His newest leak, "Patina" pairs him with Roc Marciano, a good match for his low-key vocal sampling on display here.
