Raekwon is taking throwback Thursday a little further back than most. Each week, he raps over a different classic instrumental, but so far he's been going back to a time before hip hop, today, taking on The Isley Brothers' "Footsteps In The Dark".
This particular loop does have a significance in rap, namely that it was the sample source for Ice Cube's classic single, "It Was A Good Day". Rae however, let's the loop breathe a little more, letting the sample ride out after his first verse, and allowing the soulful vocals of the Isleys to play through.
