Timbaland has been busy lately. After releasing a mixtape at the end of 2015, he’s appeared in the studio with the likes of Justin Timberlake as well as being in charge of the Empire Original Soundtrack, Season 2 Volume 2 which drops at the end of the month. In between it all, he found time to create an original track or the NBA Playoffs and Finals.
The ad shows Timbaland on the boards briefly at the beginning before intermixing in-game and fan re-enactment footage. “They just said they wanted energy, so that’s why they came to me,” Timbaland explained to Billboard about the partnership. “The NBA is great, but it’s about contributing my music to a part of rhythm, and basketball is a rhythm. That’s what made it stick out to me”
The ad will appear at some point during tonight’s slate of NBA games. The NBA Playoffs start Saturday, April 16.
