This should be interesting.

Looks like Chance the Rapper is ready to whip some more audible magic in an unlikely pairing as he has confirmed an upcoming collaboration with singer-songwriter John Mayer.

It was Thursday that the two men were spotted onstage at Dave Chappelle’s show at Radio City Music Hall alongside comedians Jon Stewart and Hanibal Buress. The two artists being together naturally sparked rumors of a possible link up between the two.

As fans inquired on social media, Chance stepped into Twitter to deliver a resounding “Yes.”

It wasn’t long after that John Mayer also came to back it up, tweeting out “CO-SIGNED,” and it didn’t take long for the Twittersphere to launch into a frenzy.

In the recent trend of outsiders stepping into Hip-Hop for a catchy hook with seemingly superficial hopes of crossover success, it's refreshing to have an artist like Mayer announce his latest venture into the genre as he’s demonstrated a track record of dedication that includes collaborations with the likes of Common (“Go!”) and Kanye West (“Bittersweet”).

Notably, the guitarist and soulful crooner appeared alongside JAY-Z in 2009 at the rapper’s “Answer The Call” 9/11 charity concert to play guitar in accompaniment for a set that included songs like “U Don’t Know,” “Run This Town,” and “D.O.A.”

As for Chance, he’s been pretty spot-on at adapting to any track with practically anybody, displaying a range that’s allowed him to seamlessly go from gospel remakes like “How Great” alongside Jay Electronica to braggadocious drops like “Big B’s” with Young Thug.

His most recent collaboration arrived the same day as this announcement in the form of the track “Gimmie A Call,” with frequent collaborator and younger brother Taylor Bennett. The track comes packaged in a playlist on SoundCloud of previously unheard tracks that are due for deletion come August 26th if the math is correct.
