Elliott could be looking at six-game suspension.

A ruling on Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott's rumored suspension is expected to come down soon, and could be announced as early as today.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, one league source characterized an Elliott suspension as "definite," though it's still unclear when the announcement will be made and, most importantly, how many games he'll be forced to sit out.

Elliott is reportedly expected to be suspended under the Personal Conduct Policy, stemming from allegations of five incidents of domestic violence over a six-day period last July.

Earlier this week, during a taping of Fox Sports 1's "Undisputed," Cris Carter said he would be "shocked" if Elliott wasn't suspended in the next 48 hours. That time frame has come and gone, but Carter says the evidence makes it "fairly easy to determine that something happened to this woman."

Per Ryan Glasspiegel of TheBigLead.com,

"Because based on the information that's going to come out, it's going to be fairly easy to determine that something happened to this woman in her four days of being with Zeke," Carter said. "This is just pure assault or domestic violence."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that domestic violence violations warrant a six game suspension, which can be increased or decreased depending on circumstances.

If (when) the NFL suspends Elliott, he'll still be able to challenge the ruling in court which would allow him to play while his appeal is being considered. Although, as Mike Florio notes, those lawsuits rarely succeed.
