Big Boi explains how Phife Dawg's death extinguished plans to make "A Tribe Called 'Kast."

During a new interview with Hot 97's Laura Stylez and Peter Rosenberg, Big Boi confirmed that Outkast & A Tribe Called Quest had started working on a joint album that was ultimately derailed by Phife Dawg's death.

Q-Tip flew to Atlanta with Ali Shaheed Muhammad, we all met at Dre’s house,” Big Boi said. “We got to the point of picking out beats for the album. Then, some kind of way, everybody started doing stuff, and then Phife… you know. It definitely was happening, though.

Andre 3000 first revealed the plan to make a "A Tribe Calle 'Kast" last year at Phife Dawg's memorial service. Big Boi added that he and Phife have a few songs in the vault that he plans to release soon. Watch the full interview below.
