Rumors circulate that Jay Z is part of a group of investors negotiating the purchase of HOT 97.

We've seen a lot of tension between Jay Z and HOT 97 over the last few days, exclusively through the bomb-drop-ridden rants of Funkmaster Flex. Now new rumors are circulating that Jay Z is in talks to buy the radio station along with a group of investors, which would contextualize Flex's outburst quite differently.

The "rock solid source" for the news was acquired by MediaTakeOut, not exactly known for being a "rock solid source" themselves, but it wouldn't be the first time they've broken a story. The source also names New York Knick Carmelo Anthony as part of the group in negotiations to purchase HOT 97.

Radio personality Ebro acknowledged the rumors on Instagram today, but his post suggests he's probably just up to his usual troll-like behavior.

What do you think? Is HOV about to buy the station? Will he turn HOT 97 into a No Flex Zone? Let us know in the comments.

[Update: Emmis Says No]

According to Emmis Communications, the company which owns Hot 97, Hov is not trying to purchase the NY radio station. HipHopWired reached out to Emmis, and with one short sentence they knocked down the rumors from the not-so-reliable MediaTakeOut. "That story is false," said an Emmis rep.

We'll update you if anything changes.
