Celebration in Brooklyn honoring the 25th anniversary of Spike Lee's monumental film "Do The Right Thing" gets performances from Public Enemy and Yasiin Bey, autograph signing from Erykah Badu.

Monday (June 30th) marks the 25th anniversary of Spike Lee's 1989 film "Do The Right Thing," and so the director held a block party in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood today to celebrate. Taking place right where the movie was filmed, the celebration hosted surprise appearances from Public Enemy, Yasiin Bey and Erykah Badu.

Public Enemy (wisely) opted to perform "Fight The Power," which was released the same month as the film in 1989, Bey (AKA Mos Def) freestyled and Badu showed up momentarily to sign autographs.

The party was also attended by Wesley Snipes and Dave Chappelle (who hosted Bey at Radio City Music Hall last night), and featured a video message from Barak and Michelle Obama, who said they watched "Do The Right Thing" on their first date. Check out various Instagram clips of the block party below.
