Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is reportedly set to make his professional wrestling debut this summer, as part of Mexican promotion AAA's annual "TripleMania" event in Mexico.

According to ESPN's Michael Rothstein, the TripleMania supershow is scheduled to take place in Mexico on August 3, though it's still unclear who Velasquez will square off against in his debut. The UFC veteran, who most recently lost to Francis Ngannou in mid-February, shared the news on twitter on Tuesday:

"Very excited to be able to participate in and be with all the Mexican fans who have always supported me! Thanks for the big opportunity. Really excited to be part of !

While August's TripleMania event will mark Velasquez's first pro wrestling match, Rothstein reports that the 36-year old spent time training at the WWE Performance Center last July, and he has attended several WWE shows over the years.

Of course, Velasquez isn't the only former UFC champion who has turned to pro wrestling. Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey have both thrived in the WWE, and both enter Wrestlemania 35 toting championship gold.

Lesnar will put the WWE Universal Championship on the line against Seth Rollins, while Rousey is slated to defend the Raw Women's Championship against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in a historic Triple Threat match that will main event the April 7 PPV at MetLife Stadium.
