Bob Sutton relieved of his duties in KC.

If the Kansas City Chiefs knew what Tony Romo apparently knew on Sunday, they would have had a much better chance at stopping Tom Brady in the AFC Championship Game.

Alas, Romo was predicting the Patriots' offensive plays from the broadcast booth while Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton and the KC defense failed to stop Brady and the Pats on numerous third and longs in overtime.

As a result of Sutton's lack of adjustments in the AFC title game, he has been relieved of his duties.

In a statement released by the team, head coach Andy Reid described Sutton as "a good football coach and a great person," but noted that it's in the best interest of the Chiefs to cut ties and move on.

"He played an integral role in the success of our team over the last six seasons. I've said before that change can be a good thing, for both parties, and I believe that is the case here for the Chiefs and Bob. This was not an easy decision, but one I feel is in the best interest of the Kansas City Chiefs moving forward."

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that one name to watch in Kansas City's search for a new DC is current ESPN analyst Rex Ryan.

Ryan, who spent years as a defensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens before head coaching gigs with the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, has not coached since 2016.
