"If my wife is in town I eat her ass.”

Rather than working out in front of fans and media at the UFC 230 open workouts today, Heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis opted to hold a Q&A which proved to be far more entertaining.

Lewis, coming of an incredible, last-second knockout victory against Alex Volkov last month, answered questions pertaining to his hilarious post-fight antics at UFC 229 and described his preferred pre-fight meal. Speaking of the latter, Lewis says, "If my wife is in town I eat her ass.”

As for his UFC 229 post-fight interview, in which he ripped off his shorts because "my balls was hot," Lewis says: "I'm always saying crazy things. I guess people really believed my balls was that hot. I didn't even know Joe Rogan was gonna ask me that. I took off my shorts to throw it into the crowd, so that's the reason why I did it, but when he asked me that I didn't know what else to say."

Lewis (21-5 MMA, 12-3 UFC), also fielded some questions about the upcoming Heavyweight Championship fight against double-champ Daniel Cormier, which comes just 28 days after his brutal bout at UFC 229.

Per MMA Junkie:

“The reason I think he [Cormier] took the fight with me is because Jon Jones was already fighting in (December),” Lewis said today's Q&A at MSG. “He didn’t want to wait until January and hear all the media talk about, ‘Why is Cormier not fighting for the 205 belt?’ They’re already saying he’s basically scared to fight Jones right now, anyway. He feels like it would be perfect to fight a guy like me that don’t have as much skills on short notice before the Jones fight and he thinks it’s going to be an easy fight for him.

“Yeah, I think he’s scared to fight Jones. The guy beat him twice.”

The fighters taking part in today's showcase are scheduled to work out in 20-minute increments, starting with Lewis, followed by Middleweights Ronaldo Souza and Chris Weidman, and concluding with the champ, Cormier.

The pre-fight press conference is scheduled for 4pm on Friday, followed by the official weigh-ins at the Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden.
