On Sunday, Green Bay Packers running back Ty Montgomery fumbled a kickoff return with 2:05 left in the fourth quarter, allowing the Los Angeles Rams to effectively run out the clock en route to their 29-27 victory. Now, Montgomery is no longer a member of the Packers.
According to multiple reports, Green Bay has agreed to trade Montgomery to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a seventh round pick in the 2020 draft.
After Sunday's defeat in Los Angeles, multiple anonymous members of the Pack spoke about their frustrations with how the game ended, including how pissed off Aaron Rodgers was that he didn't get a chance to run the two-minute drill. “Aaron was hot,” an anonymous Packers coach said, per NFL.com. “And he had a right to be. He yelled, ‘Take a f–king knee!’ He was very, very mad.”
An anonymous player reportedly added, “They took him out [the previous drive] for a play and he slammed his helmet and threw a fit,” the player said. “Then [before the kickoff] they told him to take a knee, and he ran it out anyway. You know what that was? That was him saying, ‘I’m gonna do me.’ It’s a f–king joke."
Montgomery, 25, transitioned from wide receiver to running back midway through the 2016 season but has not made much of an impact in the backfield. Through seven games this season, he has only rushed 26 times for 105 yards and a touchdown, in addition to 170 receiving yards.
The Packers, 3-3-1, will do battle with the New England Patriots on Sunday night in Week 9, while the Ravens, 4-4, host the Pittsburgh Steelers.
