Yelawolf pops the trunk to unload a new banger.

After dabbling in the Southern-Gothic, countrified musings of Trial By Fire, Yelawolf appears to be back on his trunk-popping BS. With Trunk Muzik 3 around the corner, Yela looks to be capping off his tenure at Shady Records with a bang. The album's introductory cut, the WLPWR-produced "Trunk Muzik Intro," has arrived in select international markets. "The priest was thinkin' I'm Illuminati 'cause Eminem is a close kin," spits Yela. "I might as well because I give 'em hell, for that white bread, put the toast in."

The Alabama rapper navigates a blend of synth and distorted 808s with a practiced flow, much to the delight of fans hoping for a return to the bars. It's cool to see Yelawolf coming through with a renewed sense of internal fire, at least where his emceeing is concerned. That's not to say previous efforts faltered, as they clearly came from the heart, but a talent of his caliber should not lie dormant for long. Check the introduction now, and sound off. Is Trunk Muzik 3 off to a solid start?

Quotable Lyrics

I take a piss in the battle, throw that bitch at your papa
Smoke flyin' off the chopper and it's chokin' your mama
She can't breathe with this funk, what I conceive in the trunk
They disbelieve in the son, bitch, best believe I'm the one
I got that bump in the back with the box bodies, Creekwater until I'm walkin' wobbly
I'm a businessman, I don't keep it political, fuck the world and I'm not sorry
The priest was thinkin' I'm Illuminati 'cause Eminem is a close kin
I might as well because I give 'em hell, for that white bread, put the toast in
