Spencer will be playing the legendary entrepreneur.

LeBron James moved out to Hollywood for a reason. The NBA vet is teaming up with talented actress Octavia Spencer to bring the story of Madam C.J. Walker to life. Walker was the first self-made female millionaire in America. She created a line of hair and beauty products for African-American women in the early 1900's after spending years cleaning laundry earning a dollar a day. Walker was the daughter of slaves, and was the first in her family to be born free after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Her younger years were rough, and Walker was orphaned before she was ten and married (and widowed) by the time she was 20. In her late 30's, Walker pioneered the Madame C. J. Walker Manufacturing Company, and employed thousands of women while making more money than any African-American in the nation at the time.

According to Varietythe LeBron James and Octavia Spencer produced series based on Walker's life has been picked up by Netflix. Spencer will also star as the legendary entrepreneur. The series will feature eight episodes, and is based on the book On Our Own Ground by A’Lelia Bundles, who is Walker’s great-great-granddaughter. Bundles will also serve as a consultant for the show.
