The "Iron Fist" chapter comes to an end at Netflix.

In a recent development, Marvel and Disney revealed that Iron Fist will not be renewed for a third season on Netflix just one month after its second season premiered on the streaming platform.

“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Marvel and Disney said in a joint statement according to Deadline. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew, and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on.”

While the first season got the series off to a rocky start, a cancellation didn't seem likely following a much improved second season. Nonetheless, this now marks the first Marvel series cancellation on Netflix.

Deadline reporter Dominic Patten, however, points out the possibility of Iron Fist finding a new home on the new streaming service that Disney is set to launch next year. Currently, the company has already locked other Marvel creations with Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen set to take on their respective roles as Loki and the Scarlet Witch in small screen reprisals.

For those who plan to stick to Netflix though, there's still plenty of Marvel to go around with the other series: Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil and its Punisher spinoff.
