Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been ruled out of the 2018 World Cup by Sweden's bench boss.

The LA Galaxy striker shocked the soccer world by turning down a $100 million offer from China to continue his career in the United States in the fast-growing MLS. The decision came as a surprise to pundits who all seem to agree that Zlatan is still performing at a World Class level, when at full health. Never the less, he chose a new living experience over a more popular choice, scoring 2 terrific goals in his debut.

Outside of club appearances, Zlatan has made Los Angeles his own private playground. He even caused a small media sensation during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! While filming the segment, he asserted his claim to a spot on the Sweden National Team's final 24-man roster for this summer's World Cup. Zlatan had begun fueling speculation at his unveiling in Los Angeles when he asserted, "I am going to the World Cup, yes." It appears his promise to play has fallen on deaf ears.

The deadline for his inclusion has passed, and head coach Janne Andersson has decided to plan around him. The Swedish men's soccer team's official Instagram page now reads: "A final message: Zlatan will not play at the World Cup. The men’s national team’s greatest scorer of all time has not returned and will not play." The 23rd Fifa-ranked team will need all the luck in the World to cut their deficit. The tournament commences on Thursday June 14, 2018.

Stay tuned.
