Jenner wants to break new grounds.

Caitlyn Jenner recently sat down with Variety to discuss transgender equality in America, and she revealed that she would like to play a Marvel movie villain. “In a Marvel movie, I want to play the baddest-ass lady you’ve ever seen in your life,” Jenner stated. “They got the wicked queen or the wicked lady. Just do the makeup and the outfit. And I got the deep voice.” It would be the first time a transgendered actor would play the main role in a Marvel film.

Although equality and proper representation in film seems to be high on Disney's agenda at the moment, it is doubtful Jenner will get her wish. Disney has placed powerful women at the head of their Star Wars movies, such as Rey in the ongoing main saga, and Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. They have also worked with Marvel to bring the world several African-American characters like Black Panther, Falcon, and War Machine. Next year's Captain Marvel will focus on their first female solo hero lead (although The Wasp did almost all the ass kicking in Ant-Man and The Wasp). From the eyes of an outsider, it may seem like Disney is just rushing to include women and ethnic characters for the sake of marketing, but many, if not all, of these heroes are rooted in comic history that is decades old. Although Disney and Marvel may play with character's ethnicity or sex in certain situations (Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie or Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost), just throwing in a transgender character for appeal or acceptance doesn't fit in their agenda. It is possible that in the future, a new character can be created for the role, but only time will tell.
