Drake's "Scorpion" Is The First Album To Hit A Billion Streams In A Week: Report

This whole week has been about Drake since he released his fifth studio album, Scorpion. Despite being met with luke warm reviews, the rapper's latest project addressed a whole lot of questions that the public was seeking answers for including his son. Scorpion went on to break the first week streaming record within a few days of its release. However, it looks like the momentum kept up and now, Drake is the first artist to hit a billion streams in week.

According to Billboard, Drake has made history once again after Scorpion reached a billion global streams within its first week. This makes Drizzy the first artist to ever reach that accomplishment. Prior to Drake's new album, Post Malone held the record for most streams in a week with a little under 700M for beerbongs & bentleys. Drake beat that record within the first three days. Off of streams alone, his latest album could've placed him at the top of the Billboard album charts.

Drake's latest project is also the first album to be released under Billboard's new formula for calculating the weight of on-demand streams. Streams through paid subscriptions such as TIDAL, Spotify and Apple Music hold more weight than free streams.

For anyone who's looking to get a physical copy of Drake's latest project, it will be available for purchase on July 13th.
