The remix takes listeners to church.

August Greene released a remixed version of "Optimistic." The group, composed of Common, Robert Glasper, and Karriem Riggins, linked with a few big names for this revamped version. Kirk Franklin opens up the song with a sermon-like introduction. Kierra Sheard and Bj The Chicago Kid fill in for Brandy, bringing a different texture to the feel-good track.

Common shared how the group's organic sounds come from an exceptionally natural formation.

"August Greene actually formed before we chose a name, before we even knew it was a band. Karriem, Rob and I go back many years. It was something natural. When I started working with them it was like, ‘man, this feels like home,’ and it felt new and fresh. We love working together. The music takes us all to new places and it just feels like, everything I want to be as a musician is within the group of August Greene.”
