"Hong Kong" by The Weeknd featuring 王菲季候風 (a sample of Faye Wong's "Monsoon") is an Asia-exclusive track following his shows there.

The Weeknd is a big fan of Cantopop and Wong Kar-wai films featuring actors like Faye Wong, so it's only natural he would choose to pay tribute to this art at his recent shows in Hong Kong. He just dropped the new Asia-exclusive track aptly titled "Hong Kong," which samples Faye Wong's (王菲) 1993 Cantonese hit "Monsoon (季候風). Abel Tesfaye first performed the track at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium on October 24, which you can watch below. It's a sweet and tender cut with a lot of grandiosity to it, and The Weeknd performs very well on it. It's now available on digital streaming platforms in Asia, but if you're not there and can't access it, at least the live performance footage is there.

Quotable Lyrics from Hong Kong

On my skin, you left your mark the night you held me close,
And in the morning, we turned to strangers,
But don't you hesitate to call,
I'm posted in Hong Kong

Gabriel Bras Nevares is a staff writer for HotNewHipHop. He joined HNHH while completing his B.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication at The George Washington University in the summer of 2022. Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gabriel treasures the crossover between his native reggaetón and hip-hop news coverage, such as his review for Bad Bunny’s hometown concert in 2024. But more specifically, he digs for the deeper side of hip-hop conversations, whether that’s the “death” of the genre in 2023, the lyrical and parasocial intricacies of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle, or the many moving parts of the Young Thug and YSL RICO case. Beyond engaging and breaking news coverage, Gabriel makes the most out of his concert obsessions, reviewing and recapping festivals like Rolling Loud Miami and Camp Flog Gnaw. He’s also developed a strong editorial voice through album reviews, think-pieces, and interviews with some of the genre’s brightest upstarts and most enduring obscured gems like Homeboy Sandman, Bktherula, Bas, and Devin Malik.
