Hood Warfare 2 has become the latest viral video game, and the internet agrees that it is overtly racist.

A company called Trapstar Games has released a new multiplayer shooter called Hood Warfare 2. The game fancies itself as a Call of Duty clone. However, the game takes place in the streets of Chicago and puts players in the middle of a gang war.

Kill streaks like UAVs are replaced with snitches who spot enemies on the map. Meanwhile, air bombers are replaced with drive-by shootings. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that this is being done in poor taste. The game is profiting off of real-life violence in Chicago, and is making a mockery of those who have died.

Even the vocal lines and gun names are played off as one big stereotype. It's played off as one big joke, and while the game has gone viral, its popularity is for all the wrong reasons.

Hood Warfare 2 Is Just Racist

On social media, commenters immediately noted just how evil all of this is. The vocal lines received the most criticism, although there is no doubt that many take issue with the game's premise.

Below, you can find a plethora of social media posts criticizing the game. Many noted that Trapstar Games isn't even a black-led company. Instead, it is another example of white people mocking others for financial gain.

Social Media Reacts

There have been debates about games like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto, and whether or not those games deserve the same criticism. For some, there is no difference between Hood Warfare 2 and GTA: San Andreas.

However, the tone of these two games is much different. San Andreas tells a complex story with complex characters. Rockstar Games hired voice actors from Los Angeles who could add real-world context to the story that was being told. Hood Warfare 2, on the other hand, doesn't provide that same level of nuance. San Andreas was art. This new game is just mockery for mockery's sake.
