Quavo has been receiving quite a bit of criticism for his new album QRÖMELIFE. The project contains production from Pharrell, and some have compared the beats to DoorDash commercial jingles.
The internet can be incredibly harsh when it comes to music they don't like. Although Quavo has gotten some positive feedback on the album, it remains clear that the fans simply are not feeling it right now.
According to Kurrco, this apathy for the project has extended to the album's first week sales. While Drake is showcasing some dominant numbers with just four songs on HABIBTI (FOMO), Quavo may not even make the top 10 on Billboard. At this time, QRÖMELIFE is projected to sell just 13K units in the first week.
Quavo's QRÖMELIFE Struggles On The Charts
For an artist who was in Migos, there is no doubt that this is a disappointing showing. Quavo is supposed to be the leader of that group, and can't seem to pull above 15K. One has to wonder if this is because of a lack of interest in hip-hop right now, or if the entire industry is going through a slump.
Next year, Quavo is supposed to drop two projects. One with Takeoff, and one with Migos as an entire collective. From there, we will also be getting a Takeoff solo album. Hopefully, those projects are able to generate more interest.
Interestingly enough, Offset is set to drop a new album on October 23. Offset's solo career has been fun to watch, and the sales comparisons will be unavoidable.
