No matter how you felt about Kendrick Lamar, Drake, or their feud, "Not Like Us" was an inescapable diss track that's become one of the biggest hip-hop hits of the decade. Some of that presence is still lingering, as one fan couldn't help but hear the track's main melody when the 6ix God barked at goth content creator Pinkchyu during his recent giveaway livestream on Kick.
User QoQinox on Twitter quote-tweeted ryan's clip of the livestream moment, joking about the bark and its similarity to the diss record. Then, Spectre (who has done a lot of viral mashups before) quote-tweeted that with a video edit mashing up the bark with the "Not Like Us" melody.
It quickly went viral online, and joined many other folks either laughing with Drizzy or at him. Either way, the livestream clearly made an impact, as folks have been discussing it on the timeline all day. Whether it's OVO Stans ruining the fun or K.Dot Stans rubbing things in people's faces, every little joke can become a whole new debate.
What's ironic about this is how, just a few weeks ago, Drake's YouTube channel uploaded Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us." This seems to be the result of hackers, and it was one of many instances around that time of massive artists finding unauthorized releases on their accounts. The upload quickly disappeared.
Drake's "20v1"
For those unaware, this barking was part of the Toronto superstar's "20v1" event during the livestream. Kyle Forgeard of Nelk hosted it, and it saw the OVO mogul court Lena The Plug, Lily Phillips, Jordyn Lucas, and many more.
Elsewhere, Drake's lawsuit over "Not Like Us" hasn't gotten an update in a while. He and his legal team are currently appealing the defamation suit's dismissal, and they continue to accuse UMG of defamatory promotion and other alleged moves to undermine him.
We will see if that dismissal has any chance of an appeal in court. Still, ICEMAN and its lyrics indicated OVO would not back down.
While there was no mention of Kendrick during this Kick stream, Drake did warn his hip-hop opps at one point. "These guys are dropping albums, it's like hello and goodbye. And careful with that reply, 'cause the pen isn't dry," he expressed.
