10 Essential Rome Fortune Tracks

Of all the talent to come out of Atlanta, Georgia over the past five years, Rome Fortune is one of the more unique artists. He's collaborated on multiple tracks with both fellow ATLien OG Maco and British electronica mastermind Four Tet. With a few mixtapes and a handful of EPs, Rome Fortune is one of the freshest talents in the game.

Unlike many of his fellow Atlanta MCs, Rome Fortune relies on a variety of sounds instead of focusing mostly on trap music. He comes from a lineage of jazz musicians, and is actually related to the great saxophonist Cannonball Adderley. His grandfather, Richard Adderley, even played on Rome's Beautiful Pimp II.

To give you a better idea of who Rome Fortune is, we're highlighting his ten most essential tracks.

"Grind" is a track based off Les Sins' (aka Toro Y Moi) "Grind." Rome Fortune is great at segueing tastefully into the electronic world, and when he hops in over the minimal production of one of the great indie/electronica producers, it's super tasty. 

The two collaborated on an entire release with the YEP EP, but before that Rome Fortune enlisted OG Maco for a feature on his Small VVorld project. 

Four Tet doesn't just produce for any hip hop artist, but he laced Rome Fortune with a few tracks for Small VVorld. One of the stand out cuts was "One Time For," which closes out the 11-track project.

This track may be a couple years old, but it's still pretty fresh. An airy channels Tycho, another great indie/electronica musician, and is the perfect background for Rome's chilled-out flow.  

Here's a cut off the two ATLiens' collaborative project, the YEP EP. The title track sees both MCs linking up with some of their dopest verses.

Off Beautiful Pimp II, "Tropical" employs the vibes that we're all pining for during the month of February. If you want something that sounds sun-drenched and breezy, bump this joint. 

And since it's been so cold lately, we're going to run it back with the sunny vibes. "Sunset In Benzes" is the name of the track, but it also describes the sound. Rome Fortune does his thing over the airy, spacey beat, and it creates one of his finest moments yet.

Rome links up with fellow ATLien ILoveMakonnen for his most-played video on YouTube: "No Ma'am." The Drink More Water 5 cut has racked up over 2.5 million views, and it wouldn't hurt you to give it another spin right now.

"Smokin' Aladdin" sees our subject linking up with one of the hottest stars in the game. Young Thug enlisted Rome Fortune for the cut a couple years ago, and it still sounds fresh.

Lastly, we have Rome Fortune linking up with Atlanta producer Heroes X Villains. The electronic music producer was instrumental in the EDM trap sound, and with our subject and Lil Uzi Vert, he created an absolute banger.
